About life and career coach Michelle Bayley

Down to earth and approachable, Michelle has 30 years’ experience of leading communications teams in government departments and agencies, so she understands the issues people face in busy jobs.

Michelle’s coaching style

My clients say that I’m intuitive, warm and I’m quick to use humour (when it’s appropriate!). I’m experienced in making it safe for my clients to talk about what really matters to them, and helping them to create the life and work that they want.

When I first thought about being a life or career coach I was worried about it being too “tree hugging” for me (I grew up in Stoke and people don’t really do much tree hugging there…). Then I realised when I was completing my coach training that it’s possible to bring my own style to coaching, so that’s what I do.

Why Michelle started coaching

I worked in marketing, media relations and strategic roles for 13 years before I trained as a life and career coach in 2002. I liked my work in communications but felt something was missing, so I saw a coach and got clear about what it was.

And now, working as a coach myself, it’s always great to see people making discoveries about themselves, then moving forward in line with what matters to them so they can live the life they want, instead of being held back by fears.

Life coaching and career coaching credentials

I’ve been coaching for 18 years now and was trained by the respected Coaches Training Institute (CTI). As well as being a Certified Professional Co-active Coach, I’m also accredited as a professional coach by the International Coach Federation (the professional body for coaches), and I train other coaches to use the Firework career change programme.

I’ve worked as a career development adviser to communicators in Government and have recruited to 30+ comms roles, so I know what interviewers are looking for. I’ve coached mainly women leaders in blue chips, charities and Government departments including the Home Office, Ministry of Defence and the Department of Health and Social Care.

I enjoy writing and have contributed to the Jobsite website, as well as being quoted in articles in Red, Marie Claire, Essentials and Woman’s Own.

I’m a graduate and a qualified teacher and I live in Twickenham, South West London.
